introduction

'Polished Concrete' is: the processing of the concrete surface through means of a mechanical process that uses an abrasive medium where each step is refined to its purest possible form on a microscopic level from one progressively finer abrasive to the next until the desired level of 'polish' is achieved.

Visit our process page for detailed information on the polishing processes.

CUVIELLO CONCRETE POLISHING and STAINING is the mechanical refinement of the concrete surface to its purest form with diamond abrasives. The result is a beautiful, durable and efficient surface which eliminates the need for carpets or tile that requires expensive replacement, maintenance and use of harsh cleaning chemicals. The natural concrete floor can be customized and provides long-lasting beauty and ease of maintenance with environmental benefits.

WHY POLISH CONCRETE?

LEEDS Benefits/Environmentally Friendly
Choosing a Polished Concrete Solution helps your facility meet LEED benchmarks to achieve recognition as a high performance green building. Credits toward USGB's "Triple Bottom Line".

Aesthetically Pleasing
A variety of appearances can be achieved through the polishing process, from honed, semi-polished to a highly polished surface that has a high clarity of reflection and a glass like finish. Additional enhancements range from decorative saw cut patterns to the application of stains in a broad spectrum of colors, all custom tailored to the project at hand.

Permanent Flooring Solutions
Performance and appearance will retain greater consistency throughout the life of the surface because, unlike other finishes that rely on topical coatings, the concrete polishing process exposes and enhances the strength and durability inherent to the concrete.

Low Maintenance
Without superficial coatings, concrete polishing leaves you with a product that does not peel, chip or flake over time, making regular maintenance simple while saving time and money.

Energy Reduction
Polishing concrete to a higher shine increases the efficiency of installed lighting, reducing energy demands.

Eliminates Dusting and Particulate Debris
The diamond polishing and densification process eliminates the dust associated with unprocessed concrete and particles of chipping paints and epoxies that result from the wear of traditional floor coatings.

Abrasion Resistant
Densifiers applied during the concrete polishing process increase the durability of the surface. As a result the finished surface resists scratches and abrasions.

HOW LONG WILL IT LAST?

Concrete that has been "properly" mechanically processed with diamond abrasives (ground, honed and polished) and densified is more durable and has a longer life cycle before restoration is needed than any other flooring available today.

Polished concrete depending on its use and maintenance can last over 15 years. One fact is for sure, it is going to last many, many years without the use of special cleaners, waxes or coatings.

Polished Concrete does not go through frequent restoration cycles like other flooring like a rollercoaster. Various flooring material will look great when first finished. As they receive wear their appearance slowly degrades even when frequently maintained. Not until they are refinished do they look great again.

Depending on the quality of the concrete, the quality of workmanship by the contractor, the amount and type of traffic, the amount and type of soil, maintenance frequency and procedures the concrete will have to go through some type of restoration. The extent of restoration will depend on the current state of the floor when restoration procedures are performed.

MAINTENANCE REQUIRMENTS

Polished concrete is not maintenance free. Although, concrete that has been "properly" mechanically processed with diamond abrasives (ground, honed and polished) and densified is more durable and has a longer life cycle before restoration is needed than any other flooring available today.

In addition, cleaning costs are significantly lower than other flooring option.

Maintenance requirements are dust mopping or vacuuming then mopping or auto scrubbing and burnishing if desired. Associated costs with stripping, top scrubbing, refinishing and deep cleaning are eliminated.

Factors that influence maintenance costs are the amount and type of traffic, the amount and type of soil, entrance matting, and the maintenance frequency and procedures.

WARRANTY
