How to Select
   a Contractor

Selecting a Contractor

Polishing Concrete is technical and requires a through technical understanding how to obtain the best possible results. Selection of a contractor should take into account the expertise, experience and demonstrated track record. Because the industry is young, it is in your interest to look beyond the bottom line, as there are a lot of companies who could be learning on your job.

When obtaining bids, we recommend that you require the contractor to submit references and documentation showing that their work has stood the test of time, a minimum one year.

Does the contractor understand?:

  1. Criteria for full refinement of each grit beyond replacing scratch patterns?
  2. Benefits of full refinement on the wear of the floor over time?
  3. Why a grit can not be skipped in the sequence?
  4. Why they must drop back one grit when transitioning from metal to resin?

What is the contractor’s experience?:

  1. Does the contractor specialize in polishing concrete or is at an additional service offered among many others?
  2. How long have they been in business?
  3. Do they have work you can go see?

Other factors to take into consideration:

  1. How thorough are the bids you receive laid out? Are you able to make apples to apples comparisons with the other bids you have received?
  2. Does the contractor have offices and a show room?
  3. What is the contractor’s involvement within the industry?
  4. Does the contractor have any employee safety training?
